Controls Engineer

Description
Control engineering position with emphasis (but not limited to) the food and beverage industry.  Areas of knowledge, experience, and responsibilities include the following:

  • Electrical Engineering & Design: Power distribution engineering; Motor control center layouts; cable and conduit schedules; control panel design; elementary wiring schematics; system grounding grids.
  • Process Control and Programming: Interface with customers to identify their needs to develop the necessary control documentation; Develop/program PLC logic from P&Is and control narratives.
  • SCADA Programming: Develop/program PC and flat panel HMI SCADA control packages from P&Is.
  • Control network topologies: Industrial Ethernet (wired and wireless) Control NET, Profibus, Device Net, and HART.
  • Field Startup: On-Site plant controls startups; Coordinate field contractors.

PLC Hardware
Experience in programming, field installation/startup and troubleshooting one or more of the following control platforms is preferred:

  • Allen Bradley Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC 500, MicroLogix, and PLC 5
  • Modicon Quantum, Momentum, and Compact 984
  • Siemens 400 & 300 PLCs

SCADA Software
Experience in the use of one or more of the following SCADA packages is preferred:

  • Rockwell Software Factory Talk View, RSView32
  • Intellution iFix, Fix32
  • Wonderware
  • Siemens WinCC

Engineering Software
Experience in the use of one or more of the following design systems is preferred:

  • AutoCAD (2D P&Is and Electrical Drawings)
  • TraceCalc (Heat tracing design)

Programming
Experience in the following programming languages is not a requirement but highly desirable:

  • VB6 & Visual Basic for Applications
  • Visual Studio .NET
