Project Overview
This project was turnkey including engineering, controls, remote communications, trailer assembly, testing, delivery, and start-up. Of primary importance was the portability of the treatment system. The owner desired to move to other contaminated locations as soon as the present site was remediated.
Design
Each dual-phase extraction system was engineered to fit within custom-configured, thirty two foot long towable trailer. Each system was equipped with an independent control system, employing an Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1500 PLC. An Internet accessible wireless network monitoring package was employed for alarm notification and system status.
The Solution
This project showcases Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1500 PLCs and Internet-based cellular wireless monitoring. Allen-Bradley PLC technology was selected for this project for several reasons: Control system reliability, Logic function capability, and Remote programming/accessibility.

Benefits
The technologies employed in this solution allowed the system to operate in an unmanned mode, thus saving the owner the added costs of training and maintaining full time system operators. The implementation of an Internet based cellular wireless monitoring, control, and alarming system allowed the owner to redeploy key personnel to other more profitable tasks.
