Project Overview
GMG Corporation was contracted to integrate remote telemetry units (RTUs) to be installed at multiple water storage tanks and pump stations for a local Municipal Water Authority.
Design
The customer directed GMG to utilize existing TELCO communications to each site, in order to create an ad-hoc WAN for their Water Treatment System. Each RTU was designed to include remote water inventory, pump station status, and intrusion monitoring. The data at each RTU is transmitted back to the Water Treatment Plant over continuous TELCO communications.
The Solution
This project showcases Control Microsystems' SCADAPack RTU controller technology. The SCADAPack technology was selected for this project for several reasons: compatability with legacy equipments, serial communications, hardware cost, and small physical footprint. GE Fanuc's Cimplicity SCADA software was chosen as the Centralized SCADA system.
