Project Overview
GMG Corporation was contracted to perform the following engineering services:
Prepare Process Flow diagrams for permit applications
Prepare Piping & Instrumentation diagrams for the complete plant
Prepare the Electrical Bid documentation including; Power distribution schematics, ampacity tables, MCC single lines, motor schematics, conduit and cable schedules, device location drawings, plant grounding grid, and instrument specifications
Engineer, assemble, and test the main process control panel
Supply motor controls, field instruments, process pumps, and valves
Design, develop and test PLC program logic & SCADA system
Assist with plant shakedown and startup
Design
GMG Corporation used a wide array of expertise to carry out the tasks associated with this project: engineering process flow diagrams, engineering power distribution, lighting, heat tracing, controls engineering, LS (Large Scale) redundant SCADA system design, installation services, and startup services.
The Solution
This project showcases Allen-Bradley and Rockwell software branded products. The Control Logix platform was selected for the project for several reasons: Performance, Scalability, memory capacity, and reliability. Rockwell Software's FactoryTalk View SCADA system was deployed at this project. The system continually scans, monitors, and selectively logs over 96,000 data points. The system was tuned at startup to allow screen update times less than one (1) seconds time.
Technologies In Use
Allen-Bradley Control Logix Platform
Rockwell Software FactoryTalk View
High Speed Industrial Ethernet Communications with VLAN segmentation and IGMP snooping
SQL Server 2005 RDBMS
Remote Administration/monitoring capable via dial-up or VPN
Benefits
Controlling, monitoring, and logging process data in a batch process is critical to uniform product output.
